What is the difference between encodeURI and encodeURIComponent?
encodeURIComponent encodes everything except letters, digits and - _ . ! ~ * ' ( ). encodeURI leaves URL structure characters such as : / ? & = # alone. Use component mode for values.
Why do I see + instead of %20?
HTML forms encode spaces as + in query strings. This decoder treats + as a space when decoding.
Do I need to encode Hindi or accented letters in URLs?
Browsers display it, but it is sent encoded as UTF-8 percent codes behind the scenes.
What causes "URI malformed" errors?
A % sign not followed by two valid hex digits. Fix or encode the stray % as %25.
