Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between mean and median?
The mean adds everything and divides by the count. The median is the middle number. The median is better when a few extreme values would distort the mean, such as salaries.
What if there is no mode?
If every value appears the same number of times, there is no mode.
How do I calculate a weighted average?
Multiply each value by its weight, add them, and divide by the total weight. GPA is a weighted average: see the GPA Calculator.
Sample or population standard deviation?
Use population if you have every value in the group. Use sample if your numbers are a sample from a bigger group.
How many numbers can I enter?
Thousands. Everything runs in your browser.
